The renovation of this bathroom presented a complex challenge due to intricate plumbing requirements. We undertook the relocation of all plumbing fixtures, a task that proved challenging as it involved replacing all pipes back to the risers and rerouting them to their new positions. Despite the complexity, our team navigated the process with precision, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance for the updated space.

Upper West Apartment Renovation

Expanding the kitchen footprint posed plumbing challenges, notably with the kitchen meter obstructing a wall slated for removal. Coordinating with Con Edison, we safely relocated the meter. Installing a new washer/dryer combo in a tight space required meticulous planning to run utilities effectively. Transforming a prewar maids' bathroom into a contemporary space, we installed a mechanical fan for ventilation. Lowering the powder bathroom ceiling facilitated vent installation for the washer/dryer without exterior penetration. Additionally, we cleverly integrated both the dryer and powder bathroom fan into a custom-built soffit, seamlessly blending functionality with design.

Facing the challenge of installing a vented kitchen hood in NYC, we found an innovative solution that saved costs and enhanced convenience for the homeowner. By creating a soffit over the kitchen top window sash, we were able to run a vent for the hood without the need to penetrate the exterior facade, a cumbersome process in the city. Not only did this approach streamline the installation process, but it also ensures that cooking odors are efficiently vented outside, keeping the apartment fresh and inviting. Greenwich Village Brownstone Apartment

The client had wanted a loft. She could not find one that felt gracious but was not too big for her: they all were too narrow and had few windows. Instead, she found a beautiful apartment in a brownstone near Washington Square Park in Manhattan. With high ceilings and original crown molding the space felt gracious. The proportion of the rooms and ample daylight made the space feel intimate. 

When the client hired us to design the interiors we started off with her as our inspiration. She has lived between Moscow, Paris, London, the south of France, the Hudson Valley and New York City for much of her life. We sourced pieces from all over Europe and the United States to create a deeply personal interior that tells her story.

We found furniture from France, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Brooklyn and Seattle. We sourced sculptural pieces from contemporary American craftspeople to add another layer. In the foyer there is a two-toned mirror by Bower and vases made by Cody Hoyt all made in Brooklyn. On the mantles in the master bedroom and living room we placed colorful glass sculptures made in Seattle by John Hogan. Large blue powder-coated vessels by Jonathan Nesci, made in Columbus, Indiana. We installed the art that she has been slowly collecting from European and American artists: Dalí, Mondrian, Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

Her finished home speaks volumes about how she has comfortably made her home wherever she has lived.

Manhattan Studio bathroom and kitchen remodels

The owner of the studio in the Upper East side had been living in the apartment for a few years and had not remodeled it since moving in. The owner was eager to renovate the place for his own enjoyment while being mindful of its resale value. The owner lived in the studio while project was being done which meant we had to be very cognizant of protection. We managed to fit all possessions to one side of the apartment and sealed of the job zone by putting up a zip-wall. The job took approximately 5 weeks to complete based on a 9am-5pm schedule.

Kitchen remodel

This apartment was in its original condition when we started renovation. The apartment is located in the Upper West Side inside a landmark building. The kitchen foot print was expanded to open up the kitchen. The gas meter located kitchen was concealed behind the kitchen cabinetry. New wood floor was installed in the kitchen to match existing wood floor in the apartment. The closets were all customized which included drawers, rods, and shelves. A half bathroom was modified and a sink was added. We worked closely with the owner to ensure all her needs were met. For example, we gave the owner tips and ideas on how to maximize the closet space. We also gave the owner a few suggestions about finish carpentry which were all approved in the end .
